چکیده
The spittlebugs Mahanarva spectabilis economically challenges cattle production of neotropical regions, due to its voracious feeding on tropical grasses. Here, we evaluated biochemical responses the interaction between M. and widely cultivated grasses Brachiaria spp. (i.e., brizantha decumbens) elephant (cvs. Roxo de Botucatu Pioneiro), regarding lipoxygenases, protease inhibitors, phytohormones, proteolytic activities in midgut spectabilis. spectabilis-infested increased lipoxygenases activity, except for cv. Pioneiro. levels phytohormones jasmonic abscisic acids were similarly low all genotypes under herbivory. Furthermore, salicylic acid concentration was constitutively higher sp., increasing only spittlebug-infested B. decumbens. infestations did not induce increases inhibitors any forage grass type. trypsin activity remained unaltered, total decumbens-fed insects. Our findings revealed that most exposed activate pathway, resulting acids. However, greater amounts these hormones do inhibitory response spittlebug attack. This knowledge certainly helps guide future projects aiming at reducing impact production.

How will Mahanarva spectabilis (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) Respond to Global Warming?
The aim of this study was to determine the favorable constant temperature range for Mahanarva spectabilis(Distant) (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) development as well as to generate geographic distribution maps of this insect pest for future climate scenarios. M. spectabilis eggs were reared on two host plants (Brachiaria ruziziensis(Germain and Edvard) and Pennisetum purpureum(Schumach)), with individ...

Cropping practices are necessary in order to help reduce the population of pest insect, such as the induction of resistance through fertilization. Therefore, this study aimed to assess alterations on the production and quality of Brachiaria ruziziensis when receiving the fertilization composed by the macronutrients NPK and/or exposed to the attack of Mahanarva spectabilis nymphs and adults. B. ...
متن کاملSpittle protein profile of Mahanarva spectabilis (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) fed various elephant grass genotypes.
An understanding of the interaction between spittlebugs and forage grasses is essential for establishing factors that favor productive pastures. In the present study, we evaluated the protein profiles of the spittle of Mahanarva spectabilis (Distant, 1909) (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) fed various elephant grass genotypes. Each plant was infested with a single fifth-instar M. spectabilis. After 24 h,...

The aim of this study was to determine the damage caused by adult Mahanarva spectabilis (Distant, 1909) (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) on Brachiaria ruziziensis (Germain & Evard) under field conditions. A total of 0, 4, 8, 12, or 16 M. spectabilis adults per plot were maintained for 6 days. Thereafter, the insects were removed from the plant, and the following parameters were evaluated: chlorophyll co...
متن کاملTaxonomic notes on Mahanarva (Ipiranga) (Hemiptera, Cercopidae) with description of a new species.
Mahanarva (Ipiranga) takiyae sp. nov. (Cercopidae) is described and illustrated from Brazil. This new species can be distinguished from other known species in the genus by the tegmen with three rounded yellow spots and the shape of the paramere. Mahanarva (Mahanarva) rubripennis is transferred to the subgenus Mahanarva (Ipiranga).
